As you all know, we have had some problems with our server for the last week and a half. The server crashed and would not reboot properly the weekend before last. We patched up the problem with a temporary fix that failed again about 4 days later. After the server went down the second time, we decided to wipe the server and reinstall from our backups.
Compounding the server issues has been sluggish response times from our hosts, resulting in an average help desk wait time of about two and a half days. Because of poor support, we are now talking to other hosting companies to gauge our options moving forward. There is a good chance that we will be moving to a new host in the near future, but the transition should be seamless.
We will keep everyone up-to-date as we move forward.
To recap, we had some problems with the server that should be solved with a fresh install. Looking forward, we are in search of a hosting service that is P2P-friendly and reliable.

As Underground Gamer continues to grow and mature, our rules are under constant review. After much staff consideration, we've decided on a few changes that we believe will better represent the site's ideals.
In an effort to improve the site's focus and streamline the rules (for members as well as staff), there are going to be some important changes to the upload rules. These changes will help counter increasing confusion related to the Safe Content rules. Starting immediately the upload rules will be as follows:
All PC games released before 2002 are safe. Anything released on or after January 1, 2002 is unsafe. The only exception is re-packaged content, such as GOTY packs, which are allowed as long as the original was released before the safe cutoff date.
All commercial video originally released or aired before January 1, 2002 is safe. Everything released afterwards is unsafe.
OSTs, comics, artbooks, and other game-related media are safe regardless of year.
Quality, user-created content will be allowed only after being cleared in the Safe Content forum. Fan-made content not cleared prior to upload will be subject to automatic deletion.
All content that is no longer allowed under the new rules will be removed by August 15th. This should allow for a tidy tracker and less confusion after the transition. In the interest of disclosure, Staff will begin to flag all content that is to be removed and will make the reasons for removal visible to all users so they know the potential ratio risk in downloading these files as we near August 15th. We hope that these new rules will make the uploading process smoother for all involved.
Questions and comments regarding the update can be posted here.
NOTE: This update should not be considered a replacement for the rules. As always, check the rules for more complete information.
Next weekend (20th-22nd June) will be a Golden Torrent Weekend as a way of giving back to the community for all of your help and patience during our site recovery process!
'What's a Golden Torrent Weekend?' I hear you n00bs ask.... well, during a GT weekend the tracker treats Golden Torrents a bit differently. Basically:
Anything downloaded on a Golden Torrent during the weekend will not count towards your download amount!
And to reward seeders: anything uploaded on a Golden Torrent during the weekend will count as double towards your total upload amount!
So, basically: Everyone's a winner!
You can view all of our Golden Torrents here, find more information about Golden Torrents here, and join the discussion here. We will let you know when the weekend has officially started.
The encoding issues have been corrected on the filenames in the torrents, which means you can now upload the rest of the missing torrents. Simply Browse to a torrent that you have the missing file to, and either click the triangle ( ) on the Browse page, or go to the torrent details page and click on the link at the top (This torrent file is missing. If you have it, please re-upload it!).
If you continue to have any problems uploading missing torrents, please let us know in the corresponding thread and we will take care of it.
As a final note, our old forum posts have been fixed as well. We will continue to correct the encoding on other parts of the site until UG is working flawlessly again.
